If you’re just starting out pole dancing, you may wonder, “what should I wear to pole class?”. This is a very good question – your yoga and gym clothes may not be right for pole dancing!

Due to the nature of the pole apparatus, we are specific about our suggestions for what to wear to ensure that you have the best possible experience at Body & Pole and start your pole journey off strong!

For first timers, or those taking Intro or Level 1 classes, we highly suggest that you wear shorts or pants (not leggings!) that can be rolled up in order to expose the knees. The reason for this is that your exposed skin will help you get a better grip on the pole, making it that much easier to master climbs, sits and spins. For tops, feel free to wear something comfortable, but keep in mind that you may appreciate something a bit more fitted so that excess fabric doesn’t get in the way of your movement with the pole.

For our more advanced students, you’ll find that having more skin exposed can be a major advantage, especially when it comes to inversions and other pole shapes! We recommend shorts/briefs (the shorter, the better!) and a sports top.

Please note that our studio policy requires students of all genders to wear a top. We do not permit transparent material or undergarments in place of workout attire.

Need some inspo or a wardrobe refresh? Feel free to browse the retail area at the front of our studio, where you can find seasonally-updated attire by some of the hottest pole dance brands like Mila Krasna, Sorte, Paradise Chick, Active Elixir and our very own B&P Black Apparel Line.

When it comes to footwear, we do not allow street shoes in the classrooms, so please plan accordingly. Unless the class is a designated “heels” class (which will be clearly indicated on the schedule in the class title/description), we practice pole dance barefoot at all levels.

We hope you feel comfortable and confident in your pole dancing attire! Afterall, that’s what it’s all about!
