HOOP

Aerial HOOP CLASSES

Suspended in the air, Aerial Hoop (aka “lyra”), is a circular metal apparatus. You will learn how to create beautiful shapes below, inside, and above the apparatus. Hoop classes will teach you various techniques to enter and exit the hoop. Conditioning exercises will help you build strength, body awareness and coordination. No worries if you have none of these skills. We will teach you all the basics needed to progress.

INTRO TO HOOP

INTRO TO HOOP

No prior aerial hoop experience required. If you are new to aerial dance, this is for you. You will begin with a series of strength, flexibility and conditioning exercises that will help prepare you to later on transition into the air. You will learn the various techniques to enter and exit the hoop, along with conditioning exercises using the hoop. We recommend you take Intro to Hoop 3-5 times and/or have approval prior to joining Level 1 Hoop.

LEVEL 1

Aerial HOOP – LEVEL 1

Previous aerial hoop experience required to take this class. Aerial Hoop Level 1 will help you build strength and flexibility. Learn to flip, turn, roll, pose, and transition between positions. You should be able to perform unassisted trapeze, straddle and side mounts. This class will begin with basic skills and conditioning utilizing the hoop. You will learn and train various shapes and poses, gradually progressing into longer and more fluid sequences.

  • Side Sit
  • Open and Closed Delilah
  • Bow & Arrow
  • Pike Away
  • Pull Up in Tuck for 5 seconds
  • Side Straddle Mount
  • Straddle Mount on Bottom Bar
  • Trapeze Mount to Sit
  • Man on the Moon

HOOP FLUIDITY – LEVEL 1 & 2

Develop the strength, grace and flow of your hoop technique. Hoop Fluidity will focus on sequencing hoop tricks together both in and out of the hoop. You will be empowered to find your own style of movement and artistic expression. You should have had at least 4 weeks of Level 1 Hoop classes or prior training at a different facility.

LEVEL 2

Aerial HOOP – LEVEL 2

Develop your stamina, strength and transitions. For Level 2 Hoop, you must be proficient at mounting and dismounting the top and bottom bar of the hoop while the apparatus is both in static and spinning mode. You will be introduced to dynamic movement and more advanced shapes and poses. There will be a greater focus on artistry and quality of movement. You will also be given the freedom to freestyle in this class.

LEVEL 3

Aerial HOOP – LEVEL 3

Showcase your strength and flexibility with more elaborate sequencing and transitions. You must have at least one year of working in hoop technique and an intermediate level of flexibility. Level 3 Hoop will include challenging conditioning exercises utilizing the hoop. There will be a focus on advanced sequencing and transitions. You will be encouraged to further develop performance technique and individual artistry. You will also be given the freedom to freestyle in this class.

OPEN LEVEL

OPEN WORKOUT – Hoop 1

Aerial Hoops rigged at Level 1 height. Come practice your favorite skills! Crash pads must be used.  No monitor will be present. 2 people per apparatus max.

Aerial HOOP CLASS SCHEDULE
