If you’re just starting out in aerial dance, you may wonder, “What should I wear to hoop or silks class?”. This is a very good question – your yoga and gym clothes may not be right for aerial dance!

Due to the nature of the hoop and silk apparatuses, we are specific about our suggestions for what to wear to ensure that you have the best possible experience at Body & Pole and start your aerial journey off strong!

Whether you’re a novice or an advanced aerial dancer, we suggest wearing fitted clothing on top and bottom, ensuring that the backs of your knees and torso are covered. The reason for this is to avoid burns caused by friction from the fabric or hoop.

When it comes to footwear, we do not allow street shoes in the classrooms, so please plan accordingly. Unless the class is a designated “heels” class (which will be clearly indicated on the schedule in the class title/description), we practice aerial dance barefoot at all levels

Please note that our studio policy requires students of all genders to wear a sports top. We do not permit transparent material or undergarments in place of workout attire.

Need some inspo or a wardrobe refresh? Feel free to browse the retail area at the front of our studio, where you can find seasonally-updated attire by some of the hottest aerial dance brands like Mila Krasna, Paradise Chick, Active Elixir and our very own B&P Black Apparel Line.

We hope you feel comfortable and confident in your aerial dancing attire! Afterall, that’s what it’s all about!
