This week, we chatted with Sunny Freeman, founder of My Body Shop in Maryland, who joins us LIVE on B&P Online for Floor Fu@$kery on Wednesday, February 23 at 6pm ET. Check out her story below:

Why pole? How did you get into the industry?

I started pole after attending a home party and joining an “On the Go” pole party company. So many moves came naturally – it was an easy transition and I have always loved dancing!

What inspired you to open your own studio?

After venturing into a different county for a pole dance class and being super disappointed, I decided that I would be the one to introduce it to the county I lived in.

Who is your biggest cheerleader/mentor/ who inspires you?

My good friend, Carmen H. is my biggest cheerleader, always has been, Courtney D. is more of my mentor and stays on top of me about getting things done, and Laydia “Curvy Dva” is my biggest inspiration! I met all of these incredible women within 2 years and it’s been more than 12 years of having them in my corner!

What’s kept you going during this pandemic?

Depression. I kept the studio open to help people who needed consistency and connection. I too was very depressed and on medication while pregnant during the pandemic, so the studio helped with keeping me distracted.

What are you looking forward to in 2022?

Outside of physically being one of the largest studios in the DMV, I’m hoping to continue providing a safe and supportive Community that allows people to be sensual expressive beings.
