We’re thrilled to bring back one of favorite aerial cross-training apparatuses this summer: Ring Thing® is back on the schedule with Rachelle Somma starting Saturday, July 12. Whether you’re a pole dancer, aerialist or just looking to condition and build strength, Ring Thing® can be a really beneficial tool, not to mention a great workout! Read more below about how Rachelle discovered Ring Thing® and the role it played in her pole fitness journey:
My adventure with **Ring Thing®** training actually kicked off as a strategic move to cross-train and build my strength for pole dancing. But, plot twist… An unexpected torn hip labrum threw a wrench in my plans, forcing me to get creative and find a way to stay active while tackling physical therapy.
So, what *is* **Ring Thing®**? It’s this super cool gymnastics training system that basically makes you feel 50% lighter using a specialized pulley and harness. That means you can safely build strength and endurance while nailing proper technique. Struggling with those inverts? This is a safe way to get comfy being upside down, all while building strength.

Honestly, Ring Thing® was an absolute lifesaver for me then. It literally kept me in shape when everything else felt impossible. When I finally got back to pole dancing, I was blown away by my newfound strength and how light I doing any spin around the pole. Plus, a huge bonus I noticed: the incredible shoulder stability Ring Thing® gave me. After years of cross-training with this apparatus, I didn’t get any shoulder injuries, which is priceless for pole.
Full disclosure: my very first try at Ring Thing® was pretty rough but consistency quickly made things feel much easier. Beyond just building strength and rock-solid shoulders, Ring Thing® throws in a surprising variety of exercises—you can even do them with a partner—and it’s just a genuinely fun way to get your body moving.
