– INTRO TO POLE
– POLE LEVEL 1
Michelle is the 2012 United States Pole Dance Champion and has won 5 out of 6 national and international competitions she has entered. She began cultivating her dance skills from age 8, but it wasn’t until after college, graduate school, working as an Art History professor and a program director/curator in the design world that Michelle has finally been able to call herself a dancer by profession. And it is because of pole.
As a sought-after pole artist, she has traveled to the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Scandinavia, Europe, Brazil, Australia, Russia, Africa, Mexico, the Caribbean and around the U.S. to perform, teach workshops, judge pole dance competitions and conduct elevatED teacher trainings—a program she co-founded with Kyra Johannesen and Marlo Fisken. When she isn’t traveling, she lives in New York City and instructs at Body & Pole, where she is also the Pole Program Manager. Michelle is a founding member of the aerial dance company, AERA and has been a guest performer with The Pulse Project.
Michelle embraces any and all styles of pole dance. Whether she is shaking her booty in a music video for Diplo, performing in a contemporary art installation at MoMA or in one of the biggest fashion show events in Dubai for thousands of wide-eyed fans, Michelle cherishes every opportunity to perform and express herself through movement. Always admiring the role of “teacher,” Michelle truly enjoys sharing her skills and knowledge to help others become the dancers or teachers they want to be.
