Introduction to Aerial Hoop: If you have never taken an aerial hoop (lyra, aerial ring, cerceau) class and are new to aerial apparatus, this is the class for you. In this class you will learn the various techniques to enter and exit from the hoop along with conditioning, strength and flexibility exercises. After grasping these fundamentals, you will be comfortable joining beginner level aerial hoop classes. We recommend that you take this class 3-4 times or have instructor approval to take beginner classes.
Aerial Hoop/Lyra is a circular apparatus suspended from a single point. Have you always wanted to give Aerial Hoop a try? This class is for you! Beginning with basic skills and conditioning, the class gradually progress into building your strength, showcase flexibility and learning flipping, turning, rolling, posing, and transitioning positions.
Are you ready to progress your Aerial Hoop skills to the next level? This class is for you. Building on the strength you gained in beginner classes, you will gradually progress into more fluid choreographed sequences and artistic performance skills, getting you even closer to that job you always wanted as a circus artist!
Note: We encourage students to wear clothing that covers the backs of their knees and torso for all aerial classes, other than pole. This will help avoiding burns caused by friction with the fabric or hoop.
Using the aerial hoop (lyra) as a partner and apparatus, this class allows you to explore the possibilities of manipulating and moving with, on, in, through and around the lyra to expand your vocabulary and range of motion. Heightened focus will be on strength and flexibility to include grace, style and action by changing heights, planes and other partnerships with the lyra. Requirement: Must have taken Intro to Hoop or have prior experience with aerial apparatus.
